The Numbers and Good News
December 22nd 2006 05:56
I'll start with the numbers and save the good news for last.
I found the ratings numbers for all the weeks of Day Break on Programming Insider. The previous numbers I quoted came from MediaWeek, but I can't find that page now. The numbers differ a bit.
The pilot shot out of the gate (in my opinion, but maybe not anyone else's) with 13.96 million viewers on 15 Nov 2006.
The next week, 22 Nov 2006, only 5.12 million people showed up. I would attribute that to Thanksgiving (US), except that 29 Nov 2006 shows 4.75 million, then 06 Dec 2006 with 4.45 million, and 13 Dec 2006 with 3.9 million.
13.96
5.12
4.75
4.45
3.9
This week, with Jim and George in Day Break's slot, brought in 5.58 million for Jim and 4.8 million for George.
The numbers were definitely sliding, but even so, ABC has already paid for the remaining episodes and built up a fan base. It's hard when a good series is cancelled for whatever reason, but even harder when the show has an arc that viewers are waiting to see resolved.

And the good news, brought to my attention by an anonymous commenter in the threads: Day Break is on the ABC site scheduled for next Wednesday evening at 10pm Eastern time. I hope that's real and not some intern's accidental input.

This is so disappointing. It was on the schedule this morning, but now it's not. It never was on the TiVo schedule. ABC doesn't seem to have decided what they're going to do.

I know. Two hours of sitcom reruns is crazy. Followed by Primetime. It's probably a rerun, too.
